Law Firm Donates Marketing Budget to Hackney Festival

A global law firm has decided to donate its annual marketing budget to a Hackney festival for children.
Linklaters has turned its back on the usual law fair giveaway hysteria this year by ditching marketing freebies in favour of donating money to charity.
Rather than hand out the usual items, such as stationery and umbrellas, the firm pledged £18,000 for last week's literacy festival for five- to 15-year-olds in Hackney.
StarLit - a new week-long festival of children's literature from 5-9 October 2009, celebrated the very best of writing for 5 to 15 year-olds.
Graduate recruitment partner Matthew Keats said: “Over the past couple of years the so-called freebies that are given away at law fairs have become more and more elaborate, so after feedback from students we decided to do something better with the money.”
Good on them!

ReportImpressive, but I think it is their annual budget for freebies at legal recruitment fairs. I expect their annual marketing budget would buy out Hackney! Good for them though - a much better use of the money.

ReportI am impressed. In a tough economic time where every penny needs to add "value" (i.e., clients in the door), Linklaters have a heart and recognise the value of young people in Hackney.
Serious.
And no, I'm not a "big law" kinda girl. That is why I find this so impressive.
