Heavy UK snow brings chaos to Hackney

Heavy snow has brought chaos to transport, schools and offices across the borough of Hackney today.

Tens of thousands of Londoners face difficult journeys home tonight after snow crippled transport networks across the capital.
Rail and Tube services were hit by delay and cancellations and roads across the capital paralysed.
Overground trains through the borough, including services to London Fields, Hackney Downs, Stoke Newington and Dalston Kingsland are subject to heavy delays and overcrowding tonight.

About 220,000 children across London were unable to attend school as forecasters warned of a further four inches of snow throughout the day.

The UK is in the grip of its longest cold snap for almost 30 years, and extreme or severe weather warnings are still in place across the UK for both snow and ice.
The Met Office have issued more severe weather warnings for the rest of the South, parts of which have seen up to 16 inches of snow. The AA advised drivers to stay at home after hundreds were trapped in their cars this morning by blizzards.
Gatwick and Luton airports were closed, with stranded air passengers forced to spend the night there.
