The owner of a Dalston Lane music shop is now facing jail after using the business as a mask for his cannabis dealing.

Hackney Music, was raided in January after suspicions arose that the shop was being used as a front for dealing the class B drug.

Police found that the shop, which was covered in Bob Marley and Tupac posters to hide the windows, was only selling a handful of CDs.

Owner Haydar Yaldiz, 28, was convicted of permitting premises to be used for supplying class B drugs at Snaresbrook Crown Court. He now faces prison.

Hackney Hive has the full story here.

Resident of Dalston Lane Emma Hornby, 27, said: "It was obvious the shop wasn't selling music. People would be going in and out all the time, and the shop was open at very odd hours."

Police revealed that the shop was serving up to 100 customers a day.

Officer DS Chris Collins of Hackney’s Borough Intelligence Unit, said, ”Hackney Music in Dalston Lane looked like a small high street shop selling music, but it was actually a sophisticated front for dealing cannabis to local users. This result sends out a clear message to anyone in Hackney tempted to resort to drug dealing – police will use all the tactics at our disposal to stop you in your tracks.”
