It's that time of year again, August Bank Holiday weekend.

What are the best events happening in London this weekend?
Well, obviously it's the Notting Hill Carnival! On Sunday and Monday the streets of Notting Hill, Portobello and Westbourne Grove will be crammed with jerk chicken stalls, steels drums and merry revellers.
It is Europe's biggest street party, celebrating music, movement and masquerade. The main parade features reggae bands, steel drums and plenty of outrageous costumes and dancing down the 3 miles route.
Sunday is Family Day, with an emphasis on children and younger festival goers, whereas Monday is notorious for gangs, so I would recommend Sunday!
Other than that there are about 20 soundsystems catering for every musical taste dotted around the streets. Time Out has a great map here, but don't worry they hand out maps at the tube stations.
Ladbroke Grove station is closed on both days of the carnival, and other stations in the area are exit only - so I would recommend checking TfL Journey Planner to arrange your journey. From Dalston the best route is from Dalston Junction to Whitechapel Underground, then switch to the Hammersmith and City Line to Westbourne Park.
