Police forces being beefed up tonight. 16,000 on the streets. Is that good or is that provoking more violence?

I think it is reassuring that they are there... but yes it could have the reverse effect - it is a kind of 'damned if they do damned if they don't situation though as without a strong police presence everyone would say that they are not protecting us properly and were not prepared if something does happen.

Do you know if there are any reports of whether it is going to kick off in Hackney/Dalston again tonight? Someone told me Liverpool Street, Bank and Brick Lane but not sure how reliable a source...
