According to recent Met Police figures, bike theft in Hackney is higher than almost anywhere else in London.
The number of thefts has soared in the past four months as criminals home in on quiet streets with no CCTV.
Hackney police said discussions were taking place with a view to carrying out a borough-wide bicycle theft operation.
Has anyone had their bike stolen? Did they bother reporting it?
It's something that is always going to happen in big cities, unfortunately. I think the rise in numbers is because of two reasons really. Theft is more common during the credit crunch, and also more and more people in London are cycling. I advise any cyclists to buy a sterdy lock and not to leave their bike outside if they can help it.
