The Dalston store will be the fourth venue for the second-hand clothing retailer. There are currently Beyond Retro stores in Soho, Brick Lane and Brighton. This will be their eighth store globally.
The company are calling the location "Dalston", but the shop is actually at Simpson House, 92-100 Stoke Newington Road. The 10,000 sq ft store will become the largest of the bunch and the company are promising "the most exciting Beyond Retro yet".
The Art Deco building Simpson House has a lot of history, having once housed the largest manufacturer of men's clothing for the British brand Daks. The building was also used in James Bond's Die Another Day.
Beyond Retro has made its name by sourcing vintage and second-hand clothing from around the world and tracking every item sold. The company have said that they felt placing their flagship store in Dalston was a good fit.
"Sharing a vision that fits in seamlessly with the ideologies of London's cultural underground, the burgeoning creative scene embedded in Dalston is precisely what made its mark on the map. This is no different for Beyond Retro."
Beyond Retro will not only be using the store for vintage treasures, but have promised to play around with the space by hosting performances, the best in new music and a "multitude of lively events and more vintage wonderment then you can shake a stick at!".
It it not known the official opening date of the store, but by judging by these pictures on Beyond Retro's Twitter there is still a bit to do. We will keep you posted.
Exciting!
