Today is the dreaded day that Dalston teenagers have been waiting for - A Level Results Day!

All the results are out in Hackney, and hundred of people will be finding out whether they will have secured a place at their chosen universities, or whether they can start their chosen careers.

Hackney Community College, BSix and Mossbourne Academy are all full today of students collecting both AS and A Level results.

Hackney Community College in Falkirt Street reported that their A-C grade A Level pass results are a 3% improvement on last year. They had a 96% pass rate overall for A Levels.

Students achieved 100% pass rates in nine A Level subjects including Art, Chemistry, Film Studies, Law, Maths, Psychology, Sociology, Spanish and Turkish.  AS Level students also achieved 100% pass rates in Art, English Literature and Language, General Studies and Spanish.

Between them, this year's students took 423 A Levels across 19 subjects.

Hackney Community College Principal Ian Ashman is delighted at the students' success. He said: "Once again, our students have worked exceptionally hard and have achieved impressive results, with the support of our staff.

"Many of our students are now continuing onto University, having secured the grades they needed.  I'd like to congratulate HCC's 2011 students on a good year and wish them the very best for their future – whether they're continuing onto University or into employment."

Nazma Aktar, aged 19, achieved 2 As and a B at A2 Level in Law, Sociology and Psychology and a B grade for her AS English Language and Literature. The former Oaklands School pupil is delighted with her results.

"The teachers at the College were really helpful and all of my classmates were very friendly and easy to get along with. I'd definitely recommend this college to other people looking to study A Levels."

Nazma plans to study Law at City University this September. She hopes to become a solicitor or enter the teaching profession at the end of her degree.

Johanna O'Connor, aged 19 achieved an A in AS Chemistry, an A in A2 Biology and a B in A2 English. The former Elizabeth Garrett Anderson student intends to return to HCC in September to do A2 Chemistry. She said: "I have enjoyed the experience at HCC so far and have made some really good friends."

BSix Sixth Form College in Kenninghall Road published today that they have improved on last year, with getting 58% of their students receiving A-C grades, compared to last year's 49%. The overall pass rate was 96%.

They have been tweeting which universities still have places available for clearing.

Mossbourne Community Academy is reporting that 85% of their A Level students received grades between A and C. The school has a remarkable story to tell, considering it replaced the notorious Hackney Downs School which achieved the acolade of worst school in Britain.

The Daily Telegraph yesterday reported about how well the school has performed, especially considering its history and location. Ten students from Mossbourne Academy have already received conditional offers from Oxbridge.
