Saturday is the fifth Field Day festival, and this year the organisers have decided to jazz up the site in Victoria Park and move things around a little.
Field Day gates officially open at 11.30am and there are some great acts on very early. Queues can get pretty long because of searches, so make sure you leave plenty of time. Willy Mason kicks off on the main stage at 12.30pm, Ariel Pink Haunted Graffiti are playing at 2.45pm on the Village Mentality Stage and Matthew Dear's live band is on at 2.50pm at the Laneway Festival Stage.
For the full line up and timings see NMA.
A great part of Field Day, besides the music, is the Village Mentality area. Field Day's theme is village fair, and why not bring the Village Green to Hackney? There will be traditional side stalls, and fete games such as score throwing, vegetable discus, human wheelbarrow and a huge tug of war, hosted by the official Tug of War Association. There will also be old classics such as the egg and spoon race, sack race and three legged race. NOT to be missed!
Expect hipsters, and don't moan about them say The Quietus, and quite rightly so. We all know what Dalston is like!
If you are travelling from Dalston, then it's pretty easy to know where Victoria Park is. Just head further East. A handy tip is to beat the crowds by heading along Regent's Canal towpath. Perhaps don't come home that way though - Police do not recommend walking down the canal after dark. There are some strange types.
If you are coming from further afield, the nearest Tube stations to Victoria Park are Mile End (District and Central lines), Bow Road (District Line), Stratford (Jubilee Line), Bow Church (DLR) and Bethnal Green (Central line). Please see the TFL website for more information about Tube and Rail.
If you fancy taking a bus, the routes are 8, 309, 339, 388, D3, D6, S2 and all pass close to the park.
Cashpoints are available on the site, but there will no doubt be massive queues. Your best bet is to visit one of the cashpoints on Mare Street, or Amhurst Road beforehand.
It's looking like it will be a sunny day in London on Saturday, so make sure you keep hydrated. Only sealed bottles of water up to 1L capacity will be permitted in to the event. No other types of drink, or unsealed bottles are allowed.
Field Day have also asked attendees to please remember to respect our neighbours and leave quietly.
If you are tempted to attend, there are still tickets left. These are probabaly going to sell out before Saturday, and Dalston People would not recommend trusting a tout outside Victoria Park.
